After two years on the market, the Park Avenue apartment owned by white collar fraudster Hassan Nemazee has finally been purchased for $17.75 million. Originally listed for $28 million, the buyers who got a steal on the 15-room home on the 14th and 15th floors of an Upper East side co-op tower located at 770 Park Avenue are none other than Brooke Shield’s half-sister Marina Shields Purcell and her husband Thomas Purcell, a top analyst at Greenwich, Conn.-based Viking Global Investors. The Purcell’s new home features six bedrooms and six bathrooms, several terraces and staff quarters. The property also features a gym and wine cellar.

The apartment went up for sale after Iranian-American investment banker Nemazee was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2010 for defrauding banks of $292 million. Nemazee had been a top Democratic fundraiser when he served as Bill Clinton’s national finance chairman during the 2008 presidential campaign.
