How much would you pay to watch your home team play in the World Series? Boston is home to the hottest event in America tonight, with the Red Sox taking on the St. Louis Cardinals in what could be the final game of the series. Game 6 could be the deciding game, as Boston is poised to take another World Series home.

This is no doubt the biggest night in baseball, and for many Bostonians the chance of a lifetime to watch their beloved Red Sox take out the Cardinals. The rivalry between the teams is matched only by that of the fans. Homes all over the country are split on who should win and who should lose. There is no doubt who the favorite is in the home town. Boston residents are known for their loyalty to the Sox, and that loyalty will now be tested in the final hours before the game as the last few tickets disappear.

Tickets on Stubhub as of Wednesday afternoon had a starting price of $779 and many of them required you to be in a standing room only area. With tickets priced as high as $8,900 for seats near the field, and some standing room only areas selling for $1,000 each, fans will definitely be putting their loyalty on the line.

Baseball is more than a sport in Boston, it’s a religion, and it is one that many residents follow devoutly. The Red Sox are more than a team to many Bostonians – they are a symbol of hope, of believing in something bigger than yourself. This year the Sox have carried the hopes and dreams of millions of fans all the way to tonight’s epic match.

So how much is a trip to the World Series worth? I believe the breakdown goes something like this:

  • Tickets – $1000
  • Parking Fee – $100
  • Hot Dog – $15
  • Drink – $10
  • Watching the home team win – PRICELESS
