America Will Soon Have The Tallest, Most Terrifying Waterslide In The World

A record-breaking water slide currently in development will stand 17 stories tall. The Verrückt Meg-A-Blaster is under construction now in Kansas City’s Schlitterbahn Waterpark and is set to open in time for the summer 2014. The piece is simply ridiculous, and those who wish to ride it will first have to climb 264 steps to the top, according to USA Today.

Developers aren’t releasing a definitive height of the slide or a speed that riders will achieve on their descent. However, they did say it will top the record of a Brazilian slide which shoots passengers up to a speed of 65 mph.

The Verrückt (meaning “insane” in German) is attacked in four-person crews on a single raft, so choose your cohorts wisely.

Even though construction is nearing completion, adrenaline junkies will have to wait until the park opens May 23 to take this revolutionary ride. Park managers said that a number of safety protocols must be checked before then. Ya think?
