Coke Lets You Choose Ending Of Its Super Bowl Ad
Coca-Cola hopes Super Bowl viewers won’t just be watching to see what team wins Feb. 3, but that they’ll also stay tuned to see who wins the race for a bottle of Coke in its interactive ad, “The Mirage,” to air immediately following the game.
Starting Jan. 22, viewers can vote online to choose which group of characters—the Cowboys, Showgirls or Badlanders—will win the beverage after a run through the desert. Viewers can also vote on how to sabotage the competing groups, including which will be interrupted by a cameo from a Domino’s delivery man. The voting will continue until the end of Super Bowl XLVII, leaving anticipation high and no room for leaks.
Coke will air a 60-second commercial during the game, as well as a 30-second pre-game teaser, depicting the three groups racing toward the mirage. The ads will encourage consumers to go to CokeChase.com and cast additional votes for a winning team. Users can also Tweet their votes with a hashtag.
Audi will also sponsor a “Choose Your Own Ad-venture” promotion during the Super Bowl this year. It will post three versions of its commercial on its YouTube channel Jan. 24. The ads will all begin with a dateless young man heading to prom driving his father’s 2013 Audi S6. Upon arriving at school, he not only parks in the principal’s space, but kisses the prom queen before being confronted by the prom king. Consumers will be asked to choose their favorite of three possible endings. The winning finale will air on Audi’s YouTube channel Feb. 2 as well as during the Super Bowl on CBS.
