Dunk of the Year in College Hoops… In the First Week (Video)
A lot of things have to go right to land the perfect dunk. For most of us that includes the hoop being about 7 feet tall instead of 10. For the ideal putback slam you need a teammate to miss the shot, the ricochet to bounce perfect, a clear path to the hoop, and precise timing on the jump. JaVonte Douglas of the College of Central Florida had all that plus a little extra splash as he retrieved a ball that was about 12 feet into the air and slammed it home with authority over two defenders who will definitely be appearing on his poster. The basket was still only worth two points but the crowd got their money’s worth on one memorable slam.
