Inspired By ‘Texts From Hillary,’ Hillary Clinton Joins Twitter
Two months after her presidential husband joined Twitter, Hillary Clinton has created her own account on the popular social network, marking her entrance with a single tweet:
Thanks for the inspiration @ASmith83 & @Sllambe – I'll take it from here… #tweetsfromhillary
— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) June 10, 2013
The shout out to @ASmith83 and @Sllambe recognizes the creators of the popular blog “Texts from Hillary,” which has been featured on Fox and ABC news, as well as the Huffington Post and the Today Show for its witty—albeit imagined—statements from Clinton.
Humbly describing herself as a “wife, mom, lawyer, women & kids advocate… US Senator, SecState, author, dog owner, hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, glass ceiling cracker,” Clinton left a hint that there’s more to come by ending her profile description with “TBD.”
Within hours of @Hillaryclinton’s activation, more than 116,000 followed Clinton, although she’s currently only following daughter Chelsea, husband Bill, the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Global initiative.
Does @Twitter have a family share plan? Great to be here with @HillaryClinton & @ChelseaClinton. Looking forward to #tweetsfromhillary.

Clinton’s Twitter account may be one to watch, as the 65-year-old former Secretary of State is expected by many hopeful fans to at some point announce her candidacy for the 2016 presidential race.
