Maxim Models Posing For Thai Airline Have Everyone Hot And Bothered
Thai airline Nok Air has made a special gift for its customers—a 2013 calendar featuring scantily-clad Maxim models posing as flight attendants. The low-cost carrier is promoting the calendar on its Facebook page, and hopes the calendar boosts ticket sales.
It was supposed to be a gift to our customers, and so far the campaign has received positive feedback, increasing the number of passengers. There were so many viewers that the webpage crashed,” Nok Air CEO Patee Sarasin told a Bangkok newspaper.
The airline business has always been seen as sexy globally,” Sarasin explained to CNN Travel. “That is why our planes…appropriately become the background of these models. Most customers love the calendar and definitely want to own one. As of today, the calendar is becoming a hard-to-find commodity, and the requests for copies keep coming from all walks of life.”
But the Thai Ministry of Culture is none too pleased with Nok Air’s choice of promotion and has filed a complaint against the airline.
The campaign focuses on the country’s bad reputation regarding sex services, and an image that other organizations have been trying to change,” the Thai Ministry of Culture told ABC.
The Ministry of Culture has been trying to change the world’s perception of Thailand as a sex-crazed society where prostitution is accepted. In fact, a 2004 estimate by Bankgkok’s Chulalongkorn University found almost 2.8 million sex workers in the nation.
Hard to think an airline’s calendar will do much to hurt the country’s image after the action portrayed in “The Hangover 2” and those trannie hookers. And Sarasin agrees.
Given what the public is exposed to on a daily basis, we believe that we have not crossed the line,” he told ABC.
And even the Thai ministry admits it can’t do much given the fact Nok Air didn’t break any laws when producing the calendar. Perhaps a frown of disapproval? Well that’s simply got us shuddering.
