Outbox Turns Your Mailbox Into An Inbox… Raises 5 Million In Funding

Outbox

How’s This for an Idea?

Imagine someone comes to you with the following idea: a service that picks up your mail from the post office, takes pictures of it, sends you said pictures; then, throws away, delivers, or archives per your instructions given via a smartphone app?

How much is an idea like that worth to you?

Answer: 5 million dollars, according to investors. In a blog post title Bear Hugs all Around, Outbox announced that they received $5,000,000 in funding from an “amazing group of investors, sage advisors, trusted friends, and a wonderful network of believers and supporters.”

The company recently announced the release of their Android App (it was released first on iOS). As for the service itself, is only available in the San Francisco area. Outbox is free for the first month, then $4.99 each additional month.

How Outbox Works

Outbox says it will pick up and digitize your mail 3X a week. Via an app for tablets/phones, you can view, sort, and organize your mail anytime, anywhere. When you want a particular piece of mail delivered to you, Outbox will drive it to your house (in a prius).

This app is catered to people on the go, or do not wish to have their mail delivered to their home. I, personally, have no use for such service, but there for it to receive funding and be growing at the rate it is, there are quite a few people out there that this service appeals to.

Signing up for the service can be done easily by going to its website.
