Oxygen Masks Used on Southwest Airlines Flight

No passengers or crew were injured when the Southwest Airlines plane they were on Saturday night lost cabin pressure mid-flight. The Boeing 737 was headed from Kansas City to Dallas when it took what passengers described as a sudden, steep dive, and oxygen masks were deployed. Passengers and crew wore the masks for about 20 minutes while flight attendants checked the cabin to be sure all 124 passengers were okay. Once the jet had descended below 10,000 feet they were able to discard the masks, and the Flight 3201 landed safely at Dallas Love Field.
Southwest spokeswoman Whitney Eichinger confirmed the plane lost pressure at about 35,000 feet. During such an event, protocol requires the pilot to drop the plane to a lower altitude. Southwest inspected the plane on Sunday and returned to service Monday.
