Just when you thought Jay-Z couldn’t get involved in yet another big money operation, the New York Post’s Page Six recently reported a rumored partnership with Samsung, worth $20 million. As Samsung had been working on a more serious focus on the music and entertainment aspect of its business, the rumor of this joint endeavor may come as no huge surprise.

An unnamed source told the Post that Jay-Z will “want to develop some kind of new music-streaming service to promote his acts and music on mobile devices.

And Jay-Z has plenty of artists to promote. One of the mogul’s many business ventures is Roc Nation, the entertainment company he owns in cooperation with Live Nation. The company not only represents Jay-Z, but also artists such as Cher Lloyd, Jay Electronica, Sugababes and J. Cole.

In May 2012, Samsung acquired mSpot, now a central part of its ever-growing Music Hub. As TJ Kang, Samsung’s senior VP of media solutions, told Billboard, “We want music to be one of the deciding factors in purchasing another device in the future.

With Jay-Z potentially on board, this goal should not be too hard to reach. A valued musical artist, Jay-Z doubles as a successful businessman and serial entrepreneur, having worked with Anheuser Busch and Duracell’s PowerMat, Reebok and Coca-Cola. Jay-Z has also founded companies including the 40/40 Club, Carol’s Daughter and Rocawear.

This multi-talented musician and husband of fellow superstar Beyoncé (who has taken part in many business endeavors of her own, as well as Jay-Z’s Anheuser Busch collaboration on the Budweiser Made in America music festival) also recently served as an executive producer for “The Great Gatsby,” which featured his music.

In fact, Jay-Z seems to have the Midas touch when it comes to business—as well as music. We will soon see if Samsung and Jay-Z will influence each other’s forward momentum in the marketplace. And in the meantime, Samsung users can be expected to have more musically fulfilling technological lives.
