Ten Percent Of Americans Finished Holiday Shopping On Christmas Eve
Procrastination: It’s the American way according to the National Retail Federation. The organization reported 10 percent of Americans waited until Christmas Eve to complete their holiday shopping, and 79 percent of them live on the West Coast.
Consumer Reports found similar stalling. In it holiday poll, 14 percent of respondents—132 million people—waited until the week before Christmas to shop, and 9 percent—17 million Americans—planned to scramble for gifts on Christmas Eve. The procrastinators were most likely to give gifts of cash, liquor, lottery tickets, candy and gift cards. For percent of respondents planned to give IOUs for Christmas.
