Toyota To Unveil Color-Changing, Mood-Reading Vehicle At Tokyo Motor Show
Imagine a car that changes color based on what the driver is feeling. Sound too far-fetched to be true? Well, believe it or not, that is exactly what Toyota is rumored to be debuting at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month, according to Bloomberg.
Concept Car A Reality
The Toyota FV2 is the physical creation of engineers from Toyota that have been researching humanoid robots. While the FV2 is still not completely finished and production ready, the concept behind the car is very marketable.
The car will appeal to future consumers of the digital generation, who have been used to smartphones or iPads from a young age.” Takeo Moriai is a manager in Toyota’s product planning division, and he went on to say, “Given that the technology is still at a very early stage of development, it’s challenging for us to figure out the extent to which the car can read emotions.”
Toyota, Google, And GM Attempting To Improve Driving Experience
Google has been testing robotic driving equipment in a vehicle that will be completely hands free for the operator. The testing has been going on for quite some time, and the results seem to be quite good.
General Motors is also said to be testing computer technology that will help reduce the number of traffic accidents, as well as possibly allow the vehicle to completely control itself.
Toyota is reaching beyond just the realm of driver comfort, and is also attempting to help reduce the need for fossil fuel consumption. The company will be displaying a hydrogen powered vehicle at the auto show later this month in addition to the FV2. This four-seater will have a range of approximately 311 miles and can be refueled in as little as three minutes.
Flying Car
We recently reported that Terrafugia launched its flying car, the Transition into the air recently, and for a price of $270,000 you can reserve yours. Technology is allowing for more of the changes we once considered to be far into the future to become available to us today.
Will Toyota or one of our other auto manufacturers one day branch into the world of flying cars? Only time will tell, for now, let’s see if they can build one that can drive itself on the ground.
