On the internet, nobody knows you’re the richest man in the world.

Bill Gates makes occasional comments on Reddit but tends to keep a low profile, even when he’s not trying to. He decided to participate in the site’s annual Secret Santa gift exchange and got NY1227, known as Rachel. As she says, it took her a while to even notice who her gifts were from.

Rachel’s first inkling that her gifts would rock: she received a notice that the 7-pound package was being overnighted.

When the package arrived, the first gift inside was a stuffed cow. A card explained that the toy cow represented a real one: Bill Gates had made a donation in her name to Heifer International, which gives livestock and other helpful products to families in need. Rachel, who has a master’s in education, says her favorite aspect of the charity is that it gives girls an opportunity to go to school.

The second gift was a National Geographic book of travel photography, another perfect fit for Rachel, who said she loves travel and seeing new places. The book had an inscription from Gates, which she didn’t notice until later.

Finally, Rachel opened the personal message from Gates, complete with a photo to prove it was really him, and only then did she realize who the gifts were actually from.

In her post recapping the gift, she makes sure to thank him profusely before finishing, “ps: Sorry for the apple ipad on my wishlist, that was really awkward.”
