Jetpac analyzed more than 150 million Instagram posts in 6,000 cities worldwide to come up with the definitive social ranking of the happiest countries in the world.

Jetpac is a startup known for its social travel guide app. They compiled its rankings by coming up with a “smile score.” Each photo received a “smile score” based on the size of the persons smile in the image. The bigger the smile, the higher the score.

Once each photo received a score, Jetpac then averaged the scores together to determine a country’s level of happiness.

Latin America dominated the list on Jetpac’s level of happiness with Brazil coming out on top.

Japan ranked last in happiness.
