A plethora of online resources are available to inform job seekers of fair and average salaries in their respective fields and in different areas of the country. What has been missing, however, is similar data for startup companies. Until now. AngelList—an online community for startups and investors—recently launched a new feature that provides salary and equity information for the startups in its database. The data can be sorted by city, role and skill.

For example, a seeker can compare the average pay for startup jobs in New York and Dallas, where the former has just less than 200 jobs available averaging about $90,000 pay, and the latter has just four jobs with an average salary of about $80,000. Jobs can then be narrowed down to developer, designer, marketing or sales positions, or divided among 35 skill sets.

Surprisingly, of the 100,000 startup profiles listed on Angelist, almost 3,000 are currently hiring—all of which are asked to provide salary and equity details.
