Apple To Release iPhone 5 In 50 Additional Countries By End of 2012

And you thought it already had monumental sales. Apple is set to double the countries where the iPhone 5 is available. On Friday, the company’s newest smartphone device will go on sale in South Korea, and it will add more than 50 countries to the list by the end of the month, including China and Brazil.

Since its Sept. 21 launch in the U.S., the iPhone 5 is available in 47 countries. By the end of December Apple will fulfill its promise to make the device accessible in 100 nations by the end of the year. The news comes just as supplies of the iPhone 5 seem to be catching up with it demand. In the U.S. shipping times are down to just one week, after buyers have had to wait two or three weeks since its launch.

According to Apple, the December roll out includes:

Friday, Dec. 14: Albania, Antigua, Barbuda, Armenia, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Ecuador, Grenada, Indonesia, Israel, Jamaica, Jordan, Kuwait, Macedonia, Malaysia, Moldova, Montenegro, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela
