Billionaire Bill Koch’s Cape Code Beach Home For Sale At $15 Million
Billionaire Bill Koch is selling his Cape Cod beach home for $15 million. The nine-bedroom estate, purchased by the oil tycoon in 1983, doesn’t accurately reflect the billionaire’s worth, but the pictures nevertheless speak for themselves. From the Napoleonic galleon-inspired wine room to its private beach, the 8,653-square-foot mansion, which sits on 1.58 acres of land, is a testament to classic beauty.
“Distinguished by summer porches, seaside balconies, chef’s kitchen and widow’s walk this outstanding property reflects a keen sense of refinement,” the listing reads. “While superbly designed for grand entertaining, with timeless living space, beach house, gunite pool and guest quarters, the home also offers the comfort and seclusion desired for peaceful family living and intimate gatherings.”
The home has hosted several large events, including a fundraiser for Mitt Romney. The price per square foot equates $1,734, and with a house of such high value, patience is key. Kinlin says homes in this price range typically take between six and 18 months to sell.
The deep-water dock can accommodate multiple large boats, contains eight full bathrooms, four half-bathrooms, an in-ground pool, a guesthouse, and a children’s playroom.
“If you’re looking for a big mansion, this is not it,” listing agent Robert Kinlin of Robert Paul Properties told the local newspaper.
A serious understatement if you ask us—unless you can relate to Koch’s wealth.
“It has been left in excellent condition, but it is reminiscent of old Cape Cod,” said Kinline. “It’s timeless.”
The sale comes several months after his December purchase of philanthropist Rachel “Bunny” Mellon’s 26-acre estate for $19.5 million, which isn’t that far from his former home.
