Bush’s F-150 To Be Auctioned For Charity
What is a Ford F-150 owned by a former president worth? Scottsdale, Ariz.’s Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. will soon find out when it auctions the truck owned by former President George W. Bush for charity Jan. 19. The white 2009 King Ranch 4×4 Super Crew, with a 5.4-Liter V8 engine, 310 horsepower, 11,200-pound towing capacity and low mileage is valued at least $33,000 by Kelly Blue Book, but how much more will its association with Bush bring?
Low mileage is likely an understatement, as the truck was used exclusively on Bush’s Crawford, Texas ranch—purchased after he departed the White House in early 2009. Still kept under close watch by the Secret Service, Bush admits he hasn’t driven on a street in “many, many years.”
Bush will transfer the title of the truck directly to the high bidder, and also sign the passenger-side airbag panel. The truck’s value should increase thanks to a video of Bush signing the truck and driving it on the ranch, which will be included with the package.
All proceeds from the truck’s sale will be donated to the Fisher House Foundation, an organization that provides free temporary housing for families of military members being treated for injuries. Fisher House also offers scholarships to children and spouses of fallen and disabled veterans.
