Check Out This Ad Shot Entirely With iPhone 5

It’s nothing for giant companies to drop a few hundred grand to produce a decent commercial. In fact, the average television commercial costs about $350,000 to create. But Allied Irish Bank has found a way around all that.

AIB shot its new ad entirely with an iPhone 5, which was kind of perfect since the ad was primarily aimed at promoting the firm’s mobile banking features.

It was a big decision to shoot the ads on the iPhone. But once we did some preliminary tests, we knew that they were able to deliver high quality footage,” Damian Hanley, creative director at Irish ad agency Rothco, the creator of the ad, explained in a statement.

Sure, there’s no crazy special effects in the simple ad that captures a cityscape view from the window of a moving train, but sometimes simple can send the perfect message—especially when promoting the simplicity of anything tech.

The ad, which features the song “Petardu” from Dublin-based band Delorentos, commemorates the 350,000th user to download AIB’s app. A series of similar commercials—all shot with the iPhone 5—were wrapped up in only two days.
