‘Daym Drops’ Moves From YouTube To Boob Tube With Travel Channel Show

Everyman’s food reviewer, Daymon Patterson—known to his fans as Daym Drops, is coming to a tube near you. The personality behind the popular YouTube channel—in which Daym reviews delectable delights such as McDonald’s breakfast, Five Guy’s burgers, Girl Scout cookies and ever Gerber baby food—has been selected by the Travel Channel to host a new show, “Best Daym Takeout.”

Get excited, I’m comin’ to your screen,” Patterson said on a recent YouTube video. “I’m force-feeding you this energy… the vibe is crazy right now. Travel Channel, man… Yo! I’m gonna be on TV man, all up in your box!

For the past several months, Patterson told fans he was on a food tour, when in fact he was filming the television show, which was being kept under wraps until the network announced it in an April 23 press release.

Patterson is not your typical food critic,” the release stated. “Every bit of his 6-foot-5-inch, 390-pound frame is filled with a lot of love – for both food and comedy!  A certified YouTube sensation with tens of millions of views, he delivers a mouthful of commentary with larger-than-life personality from the driver’s seat of his car.  In “Best Daym Takeout,” Patterson continues to give fans his unique reviews and off-the-wall commentary while traveling the country in search of the best carryout in each town he visits.  From big city eats to small town shops, Patterson’s blend of comically poetic descriptions will have viewers craving delicious takeout all over America.

Patterson is obviously stoked, and encourages fans who don’t have Travel Channel to “hit up” their local cable providers. Either that or go over to their baby mama’s houses.

I know the two of you haven’t talked in a while,” Patterson said in his typical comedic style. “You better call her up and say, ‘Girl, what you doin’?’ She say, ‘What you callin’ for? I changed my number, and it’s blocked and on private. I don’t want to talk to you. You pay your child support sucker?’”

Patterson’s brand of humor is what has driven his reviews from the start. One morning after getting his haircut he went to his local McDonald’s and treated the world to a review of a hashbrown and bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. Rating the hashbrown a 4 on a scale of 1 to 5, Patterson said, “the hashbrown is happening with that crispy effect.” The breakfast sandwich, on the other hand, didn’t go over as well. For one, Patterson is not down with the egg.

Boo, I told you I didn’t want the egg… you have yet to get the egg game right,” he said. “I can’t get with this rubbery egg. The egg is not sexy, no matter how much salt and pepper I put on it.

And who can forget Patterson’s recent review of Gerber’s chicken and vegetable baby food. Although the smell was sort of like chicken soup, Daym couldn’t even swallow the stuff, instead he spit it back into the container before taking a swallow of juice out of—appropriately—a baby bottle.

“I’m doing this for the kids, man,” Patterson said before putting the spoonful of Gerber in his mouth. “Ah, damn! Oh, that was foul, oh I need to wash that down,” he continued after spitting the food out.

If you aren’t yet acquainted with “Daym Drops,” you can catch his series on YouTube or watch the one video that sent him viral: The Gregory Brothers’ auto-tune remix of his hilarious Five Guys’ review from last August.

And although Patterson will now be traveling across the country, reviewing America’s favorite foods, he has no plans to abandon his loyal YouTube fans.

YouTube is my home and how we all grew together, so do not rent out my room anytime soon because I am here to STAY,” he recently wrote. “I will do my very best to drop more reviews when I am not around the country filming for the show and again, sincerely everyone…..!!! THANK YOU !!! Let us show the world what YouTube Talent can REALLY do!!!!
