The rumor mill was buzzing yesterday after the New York Post reported Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk is dating Hollywood starlet Cameron Diaz. According to the Post, sources claim Diaz, 40, and Musk, 41, have “gotten close” since the billionaire who launched Paypal before founding Tesla personally sold the “The Mask” and “Charlie’s Angels” star a Tesla Model S earlier this year.

Musk “has been increasingly traveling to Los Angeles from Tesla headquarters in Palo Alto. He’s been going to LA so regularly, Musk often arrives without giving his colleagues a heads-up he’s in town. The reason, we’re told, is because he’s ‘visiting Cameron.’” sources told the Post.

Of course when it comes to reports on Page Six, we known to take claims from “sources” with a grain of salt. And this morning, in an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street,” Musk denied the relationship.

I don’t know where people got that from,” Musk said.

Where people got that,” was from Post sources who said Diaz is a big fan of Musk, and allegedly gushed over Uma Thurman’s daughter on a recent Delta flight, explaining that she wants to have a baby.

Kind of a stretch from wanting to have a baby to dating Musk, though. Of course such stretches are typical of Page Six. Granted Musk has been single since his 2012 split from British actress Talulah Riley, while Diaz has remained unattached since she broke up with New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez two years ago. And the two probably do know each other. But anything beyond acquaintanceship is pure speculation at this point.
