‘Facebook: The Musical’ Pokes Fun At Your Social Media Addiction (Video)
From the AVbyte brothers who brought you “Hipster Disney Princesses: The Musical,” comes another sure to be smash hit. It’s called “Facebook: The Musical,” and it will make you take a second look at your time spent on the social networking website.
With lyrics like, “Just hit refresh” (to fuel your addiction to the almighty Facebook, of course), the video has recived nearly 300,000 views to date. Facebook further enters the picture with the video’s more than 6,000 “likes,” not to mention the 244 “dislikes” from viewers whose contempt for the video could stem from the singers’ nasal voices to a general disinterest in social networking.
Even those who don’t have a Facebook have commented on the “musical” (if that’s what you would call an approximately 3-minute song), albeit it in a self-important way for not having fallen prey to such an international addiction. One viewer gave a solid “thumbs down to this materialistic soulless garbage.”
Either way, the AVbyte video does depict many people’s real relationship to online socializing. Maybe it will even inspire a few to hide the Facebook app on their phone and stick to face-to-face conversations for a while. However, the video presents this as a near impossibility.
One sentiment that resounds across the viewer commentary does not concern Facebook, but the redhead in the video. Apparently, she’s “hot.”
