Girls High School Basketball Star Is Only 9-Years-Old (Video)

Star point guard Jaden Newman is 9 years old. At an age where most kids are still pre-occupied with Barbie dolls and hopscotch, Newman is suiting up as a starting guard against girls between the ages of 14 and 18. And she is whooping them. Playing for Downey Christian in Orlando, Florida, Newman is averaging 14.8 points and 7.5 assists per game, USA Today reported. Check out her highlight reel:

Even though everyone else on the court towers over her, nobody can guard Newman, it seems. She also seems to be insanely quick for a nine-year-old, let alone a 16-year-old. It’s pretty obvious that this girl is destined to be an NCAA basketball star, when she graduates from high school in nine years, at least.

Newman’s older brother is a young basketball star as well. The 6th-grader plays for the boys’ varsity team at Downey, and he is just as dominant as his little sister. USA Today reports that he is averaging 16 points a game this season. Check out this highlight reel from when he was a 5th-grader playing for the varsity squad. Unbelievable.

You gotta feel bad for the kid guarding him at the 2:16 mark. You just let a 5th-grader dribble between your legs and then drive to the hoop for an easy layup while the crowd hoots and hollers. Hopefully we don’t see Hack-A-Newman out there. Any of these full-grown varsity players would crush these kids with an intentional foul. Thing is, I don’t think any of the Newmans’ opponents can even catch them.
