A CCTV has captured dramatic footage of a Thai government official coming extremely close to being killed in an apparent assassination attempt.

Paiboon Pansanit was visiting Somchai Khunpluem, a notorious mafia figure, in a hospital south of Bangkok. Shortly after leaving, a gunman approached his vehicle. The gunmen fired seven shots at point-blank range, but the bulletproof windows prevented the rounds from doing anything more than denting the window.

Police are searching for the gunman, who was accompanied by another unidentified man. When asked if he knew anyone who would try to kill him, Pansanit replied, “How would I know? It would be good to know.”
