Lebron James Considering Running For Prez And Joining Knicks In 2015

According to a report from Jason Whitlock of Fox Sports, Lebron James is seriously considering running for President of the NBA Players Association. That report is coming on the heels of a report yesterday from Stephen A. Smith stating that Lebron is seriously considering joining the Knicks in 2015.

You just won back-to-back NBA titles, and now you’re already talking about where you’re going to be playing two years from now? Oh, and then the very next day you’re talking about how you want to be head of the players’ union? That’s one way to make sure the league never cracks down on your egregious flopping: become head of the union and therefore oppose everything the league tries to pull.

I understand that it’s August 1st. Lacking anything else to talk about, NBA reporters would rather take any hint of a story and run with it, rather than sit around for a month with their collective thumbs up their asses. While interesting, I’m not sure that a “Lebron to the Knicks in 2015” report has any legs to it: James considered the Knicks during his first free agency, along with just about every other major-market team.

Let’s get real here: after winning two rings in as many years, Lebron is going to look out for #1. It’s unrealistic to think that LBJ is NOT going to play for a major-market team. His sponsors want him to sell as much merchandise as possible, and the easiest way to do that is to be the biggest star in the biggest market in the country. James has a lot of handlers, staffers, strategists, publicists, marketers, etc. on his side that will likely help him make the decision. This “running for prez” shit reeks of self-promotion to put himself on a pedestal above his fellow NBA players.
