Newark, New Jersey Named The Least Friendly City In The World

More than 46,000 people voted, and the results are in: Newark, New Jersey is the unfriendliest city in the  world.

The survey was conducted by the Conde Nast Traveler magazine as a part of the Readers’ Choice Award, which let readers choose the best cities, hotels, islands, cruises and airline.

Newark had a score of 13.4 out 100 for its friendliness, scoring lower than Islamabad, Pakistan, which came in at number two with a 17.9. Next on the list was Oakland, Calif. A total of eight U.S cities were included in the top unfriendliest list, including New Haven, Conn., Detroit, Mich., Atlantic City, N.J., Los Angeles, Calif., Albany, N.Y., and Wilmington, Del. Charleston, S.C. made the number 5 spot for top 20 friendliest list, with Savannah, Ga. at number 16 and Asheville, N.C. at 20.

According to Neighborhood Scout, Newark received just a 9 with its crime index (100 being the safest). The website also listed Newark as the 51st most dangerous city to live in the United States, coming after other New Jersey cities like Trenton, Camden and Atlantic City.
