Rumors Circulate of Next-Gen iPhone
Only three months after the release of the Apple iPhone 5, Internet rumors are already circulating about the iPhone 5S—and even the iPhone 6. Apple releases a new version of its smartphone each year, so the rumors are not completely unexpected but the current rumor are a bit early in the season considering the iPhone 5 hasn’t even been released worldwide yet.
One rumor originates from the Web site iphone5parts.net, which states Apple will release its next-generation iPhone next summer, and suppliers of the iPhone 5S components have already submitted samples to Apple.
Another site, Chinese-based Digitimes, which has a record of hit-or-miss predictions, released news claiming Apple will begin testing the iPhone 5S this month. Based on that information—which is speculative at best—Apple would begin selling the next iPhone during the first quarter of 2013.
Although most would like to dismiss the Digitimes story as a ridiculous rumor, since Apple upgraded both its iPhone and its iPad within two months of each other over the fall, perhaps it wants to change the upgrade cycle, thereby spreading out future releases.
