Self-Help Radio Show Couple Commits Double Suicide

In what could be considered a sadly ironic tragedy, co-hosts Lynne Rosen and John Littig of “The Pursuit of Happiness,” a self-help radio show on WBAI, committed suicide in their Park Slope apartment sometime last week. They were found Monday, after tenants in their building picked up a scent that one likened to a “dead squirrel,” according to the Daily News.

WBAI describes “The Pursuit of Happiness” as a “call-in show…which focuses on personal development and growth, and features interviews with inspirational guests.” As a psychotherapist, Rosen also created the Why Not Now program, which advertises “life coaching, consultation, and solutions.” John Littig, a motivational speaker, co-founded the latter, and frequently serves as the co-host on “The Pursuit of Happiness.

Considering their line of work, it’s not hard to speculate reasons behind the Brooklyn couple’s double suicide (maybe they’d heard one too many sad stories), but police thus far have not provided any accounts of why Rosen, 46, and Littig, 48, may have caused their own deaths.

Rosen had been hosting “The Pursuit of Happiness” for six years up until last week. Littig, in addition to his work as a motivational speaker and personal life coach, had a career under the name Jadex, as drummer who played at New York City’s Webster Hall for the Naked Sounds concert not too long ago. You can watch him performing his song entitled “Beautiful Dreams,” below:

The couple had lived in the brownstone where they were found for over 20 years, and a longtime neighbor told the Daily News that they were “always respectable,” further describing Littig as “exceptionally nice,” while alternatively labeling Rosen “kind of a cold fish.” You can watch the two of them co-hosting an episode of “The Pursuit of Happiness” in this video clip, where they speak of “doing something that scares you” as a positive way to move forward in life:

Rosen and Littig allegedly killed themselves by covering their heads with plastic bags filled with helium. The super of the building reported seeing blood dripping from the basement, which, in combination with the awful smell, prompted him to finally enter the couple’s apartment on Monday.

Though deceased, the couple can still provide life advice from their former website, http://www.wnnlifecoaching.com/.
