Wondering what’s in that beef in your Taco Bell food? Well, in a new page titled ‘Nutrition’ on Taco Bell bell’s official website, the company recently came clean about all the ingredients they use in their recipes. The beef — a particular item of controversy —  they say, is made up of 88% premium, USDA-inspected beef and 12 percent “Signature Recipe”. If you’ve suspected for years that you weren’t just eating cow meat at Taco Bell, then you’d be right, but in a series of FAQs explaining the 12% “other ingredients”, Taco Bell insists that you’re not eating anything you wouldn’t eat in other food items — even if the ingredients have ‘weird names.’

“These ingredients are completely safe and approved by the FDA,” the company page reads.

They’re common ingredients also found in food items at your grocery store. Each ingredient helps make our Seasoned Beef taste great. Many of them are items you might use at home such as salt, peppers, and spices. Ingredients like oats and sodium phosphates help make sure the texture is right.”

Other ingredients include: caramel, cocoa powder, modified corn starch, and cellulose, all of which Taco Bell says are used to help their beef ‘maintain its moist texture and rich color’.

The popular fast food chain addresses another major concern that its customers have been buzzing about for years and insists that contrary to popular belief, their meat is not ‘Grade D’  quality — one reason being that their is no such thing, and another that it’s just as good, if not better, than what you buy yourself.

We use the same quality beef used in all ground beef (like you’d find in the grocery store) – only USDA-inspected, 100% premium real beef, period.”

So, why is it so cheap, Taco Bell?! Well, they know you’re wondering and answered that, too.

We’re one of the largest beef buyers in the U.S. Every year, we buy about 300 million pounds of seasoned beef. Since we buy in bulk, we’re able to secure some of the best prices, which we pass along to you.”

For a complete list of ingredients and recipes in all their food items, you can a quick look-see yourself on Taco Bell’s Nutrition page. They’ve even provided resources for a list of possible allergens and food sensitivities, a diabetes meal-planning system, and other useful nutritional information.
