Tupac Shakur Says ‘Move The F*ck On’
Have you ever had those weeks, months, or even years when things just didn’t seem to be going according to plan? It seems that we all have had those moments when mistakes from the past, problems of the present, and even fears from the future joins forces together and heavily weighs on our minds, threatening to break our spirits and our confidences. These are the times when everything within us wants to just scream and run as fast and as far away as we can.
It is, though, in the very middle of these situations, that we have to make a decision. Do we let the things that have gone wrong continue to keep us down, or do we break free from it all, take a deep breath, and keep moving forward? In thinking about these things, a quote from Tupac Shakur really says it best.
You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could’ve, would’ve happened… or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move the fuck on.”
Whether you are talking about failed relationships, bad investments, or business opportunities that didn’t work out, letting go isn’t an easy thing to do. Most people have something programmed inside of them that wants to save and fix everything in their life that shows distress signs. While this is a noble intention, it just isn’t always possible. Even in the case where something has the potential to be repaired, doing so may cause you to make sacrifices that can hurt you in the long run.
As tough of a thing as it may be to swallow, we won’t ever know the paths that our life could have taken if we had made different choices. We may also never receive the answers to questions, solutions to problems, or justifications for things gone by that we so desire either. So why waste precious time searching for these things? What we can count on is that the future is waiting and will come whether we are ready to move into it or not. When it arrives, we need to be sure that we are looking forward and not still checking over our shoulder at things left behind.
As the turn of the new year is quickly approaching, I leave you with a challenge. Learn from the past, live in the present, and don’t hold yourself back from the future. Make the decision right now to just… “move the fuck on.”
