Beard My Baby Currently Crowdfunding On Kickstarter
Remember Wooly Willy? You know, the bald guy that could magically grow hair depending on where you drug some metal shavings with a magnetic wand? Well, imagine Willy as a baby and you’ve got the basis for the Beard My Baby 2.0 app on Kickstarter.
According to startup Ridiculo.us, there’s apparently a pandemic of beardless babies that desperately need help.
“Unfortunately, infant beardlessness is truly a silent epidemic,” the app’s designers say on Kickstarter. “Due to superstition, stereotypes and a lack of education on the issue, many parents feel ashamed to let people see their beardless newborns.
“Luckily, we live in a day and age where face-to-face, in-person contact between one human and another has been completely eradicated. All of our interpersonal connections are digital now, taking place on tiny screens covered in finger smudges. Thus, if a person can digitally add a convincing beard to his/her infant, the world need never know that a child is facially-folliculary challenged.”
Of course the app is quite the farce. But how fun might it be to add a Lincoln-style beard to your cousin’s less-than-attractive toddler? Or maybe some slick sideburns to junior so you can check out the true resemblance?
The good news is Beard My Baby 2.0 has already met its crowdfunding goal of $593 in pledges, so now it just needs to be approved for sale in the App Store. With 15 days to go in the project there is still plenty of opportunity for additional backers, as well. For only a $1 pledge, a backer will receive a download of the iOS app when it rolls out sometime in March. Backers who pledge $10 will also see their names included in the app’s credits. And for $25 backers will also get their very own Beard My Baby T-shirt.
