Graphic Designers Bring Out The Horror In McDonald’s New Mascot (Photos)

When McDonald’s unveiled its newest brand ambassador last month, Happy, the Happy Meal, it’s safe to say the little guy gave a lot of people the creeps.

DesignCrowd, an online marketplace for freelance graphic designers, had the same sentiments about Happy. So, the crowdsourcing site for designers decided to host a friendly competition—to see just how creepy Happy could get. DesignCrowd challenged designers to submit their creepiest versions of Happy Photoshopped into a horror movie poster. DesignCrowd received 58 designs from 33 designers, and it’s hard to tell whether it’s hilarious, scary or a little sad as to how easily Happy fit into these horror movie posters.

The first place winner, designer BHEE took home the gold with a $260 prize with this super creepy design.

Although the competition was stiff, the designers did a pretty fantastic job making Happy a little more creepy than he already is. Here are some of the other top contenders:
